THE PROBLEM

Nobody scrubs grout twice.

You do it once, properly, on your knees with a toothbrush and a bottle of something harsh. It takes an hour, your back hurts for two days, and you quietly decide the grout is fine as it is for the next six months. The corners of the shower and the ring around the bath get the same treatment: ignored until they can't be.

HOW IT WORKS

Pick a head, press the button.

STEP 1

Fit the right brush.

Narrow head for grout lines and corners, flat head for tile and the bath, round head for basins and curved surfaces.

STEP 2

Set the length.

Short for the basin and worktops, fully extended for the shower floor and the top of the tiles.

STEP 3

Wet, spray, run it.

Apply your usual cleaner, hold the brush against the surface and let it do the work. Don't press hard — the spin does more than your arm does.

WHY IT'S BETTER

Against the alternatives.

Against a hand brush — 300–400 RPM does the scrubbing motion for you. The job that used you as the motor now takes the effort out of your shoulder and your knees.

Against a mop or sponge — Nine heads means the tool changes shape for the surface. A grout line, a curved basin and a flat tile all want different things, and one sponge can't be all three.

Against leaving it — Soap scum and grout staining get harder to shift the longer they sit. A tool that makes the job quick is a tool you'll actually use often enough to stay on top of it.

WHO IT'S FOR

For the jobs you keep putting off.

Anyone with a tiled shower:

Perfect if the grout has gone a colour you'd rather not look at.

Sore knees and backs:

Perfect if the reason you don't scrub the shower floor is that getting down there is the hard part.

Renters coming to the end of a lease:

Perfect if the bathroom needs to look the way it did at check-in.

Anyone who cleans on a Saturday:

Perfect if you'd like that Saturday back.
